HELLO AND WELCOME!!!

This is the first officialday of your journey in Stranded! You'll have the weekend to get to know your tribe better, I suggest bonding well with each other over the coming days. There were questions in the pre-season confessional, but let's give a couple more.

  1. The Tribe Leader is an intriguing position... what do you think it means? Would you want to be it or not? How do you feel of who gets it?
  2. People are chatting it up today, so give us the deets: who are you vibing with, who are you more mellow on, etc?
  3. Any plans for the weekend? Both in-game or out of it?
Trust me, when we say this game will get real intense and fast once the challenges begin to start after the weekend, we mean it. Good luck! And as always, feel free to type or speak whatever you want in here.

Jeeeesus. We have a lot to talk about. How is that even possible 4 hours into this game?
  1. The Tribe Leader is an intriguing position... what do you think it means? Would you want to be it or not? How do you feel of who gets it?
I wish I knew what it meant. At first I thought I narrowed it down to either picking someone for one of those "journeys" thing or picking people for the challenge on Sunday but then everyone seemed to have a different opinion on what it could mean and now I honestly don't know. I want to think that it's not a "huge" thing because that just sets someone up to fail 2 hours into the game so hopefully it's something good and it doesn't bite me in the ass.

I was really torned on wanting it or not because being Tribe Leader definitely goes against my original plan coming into this game but it was becoming obvious that no one wanted it and I did genuinely feel bad dumping it on Sara  and since we don't know what's going on with Danny, I decided to bite the bullet and step up for it.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little worried of the impact it can have but so far the reaction seems to be positive. I don't know if people are happy that I took it as much as they're happy someone took it because it was pretty obvious that no one wanted to do it. And hopefully it gives me some traction at the start of the game just by being in people's good graces.

       2. People are chatting it up today, so give us the deets: who are you vibing with, who are you more mellow on, etc?

Pretty happy with the tribe so far. Everyone seems to be cool but I'm curious to see how things will go once people really start playing. The one thing that worries me is everyone seems to have really struggled with the practice challenge thing so hopefully Kallpa is having difficulties too. I didn't want to come off as an ass and say it was easy but I mean, with the tutorial literally showing us step by step how to do it...

I'm a HUGE fan of Abraham and we definitely hit it off really good. We have very similar interests and he was the first person I talked to about stuff that wasn't game-related so that for sure helped build that rapport. Teaming up with him and Sara seems like a given at this point and I'm all for the Canucks sticking together.

Xavier is also really chill and easy-going and I really like his vibe. I'm all for working with him but I still have to think about what we can actually do together.

Shan, Evvie and Heather I'm still on the fence about. I like them, they're friendly and they're nice but it still feels a little "basic" in terms of conversations so I'm not sure how they fit into the bigger picture yet. But listing them in that order feels right in terms of the way I feel about them for the moment.

And then you know, Danny's not here yet so at this point unless something really unexpected happens, he's going to be our first boot if and when we need.

            3. Any plans for the weekend? Both in-game or out of it?

Thank god I didn't have a lot of plans because I have a feeling we'll spend the first few days doing a lot of social gameplay. Almost everyone mentionned they had a hard time keeping up with all the chats and I can't imagine people will wait till Sunday to pick back up what they started tonight. I know I'll keep working on the relationships and try to solidify things with people.

And outside of the game, it's my mom's Birthday so I'm cooking dinner for her and spending some quality family time!

And that's it for now. I'm the last one here at this point so it feels like no more game is happening tonight so I'm out

Peace!

Goooood morning!

It's so nice and quiet here in the morning, I love it. Perfect time to sort some thoughts out so here's an update on everything

I'm thrilled that Danny finally became active and that the whole group is here but it seems like he only gets on in the middle of the night so I don't know how much good that's going to do him since it doesn't look like anyone else is keeping that kind of schedule. I'll check in with everyone today but as far as I know, I'm the only one who actually got to connect with him at all. The way I see it, if we end up losing the challenge tomorrow, I'll probably just flat out tell him who to vote for and hope that he goes along with it simply because he won't know any better.

I'm still the most intrigued by Shan and Sara in terms of what role they can have into the grand scheme of things and I really need them to be active this weekend so I can get a better read on them. Everyone seems to vibe well with Shan (and I understand!) and barely anyone mentions Sara at all. I know she showed up late on Thursday and wasn't here yesterday so it definitely doesn't help. I like them both though and I know they can both help my game in different ways.

The "new chat room" that appeared yesterday seemed to have woken Xander and Abraham up a little and I'm glad both of them told me asap when they saw it. I noticed it as soon as I got on last night but Xander had already messaged me to tell me about it and Abraham told me right away. Which is perfect, in my opinion. They're paying attention and they're telling me things, what more can a guy want? Also, I'm pretty much 100% sure that the room was created by the other tribe so honestly, it doesn't matter much and besides, I might not be able to know exactly who's in it because there's a password but I'll still figure it out based on who logs in when. I wonder if anyone else thought about that? Probably not, right?

Also, the "ice breakers"? I love how everyone instantly bonds over those and they just open right up. Sara's questions were so inoffensive on the first night that everyone just sees it as this fun activity we can do to get to know everyone better. I won't overdo it and be the one posting new questions every day but I'll keep digging. And I hope you guys are paying attention to those and not think that it's just boring chit-chat because the answers speak volume on everyone's character. The 10 years ago / 10 years from now and the socks question are especially telling but they're so random (come on, socks? who's gonna be weary about that question?) that no one is gonna hesitate to answer. It's basic behavioral stuff.

I'll let you in on a secret to finish things up. I won't try to lose the challenge on purpose tomorrow (and I never will) but I'm low key hoping that we lose so that the fun can start. And if I was a betting man, assuming everyone casts a vote, I would put money on a 6-1-1 result. 🤫

And with that, Deshawn out!

Hello hello!!

Quick thought dump this morning

I went back to rewatch the idol part of the alumni video and even though it mentions a "forum that is password protected", there's a part of me that wonders if it might actually be one of the chat rooms. That 'Dew it' room appeared so early into the game and there hasn't been anyone in it at all yet so I'm starting to think that might be where the idol is. I could be way off and we'll get more details about the idol today / see a new forum appear but right now it feels like a possibility. I know there's more rooms being created now but 'Dew it' was there barely 12 hours into the game so it makes me wonder.

I don't think anyone else has thought about that, or at least no one has mentionned it so I definitely won't bring it up but unless there's a new forum appearing soon, I'm gonna strongly consider that that's where the idol is.

It looks like the Evvie, Xander, Abraham, me team up is pretty much set as of right now so I think things should be running smoothly for the next few days in terms of game.

It was cool to see Heather pop back in yesterday but again, the conversation is SO basic that I don't know what to make of her.

I'm starting to get super weird vibes from Sara, I feel like she's being so agressive and I'm starting to feel like I might want to do something about that sooner rather than later. It's fine for now because she's aligned with the Danny vote (and the Heather vote if it comes to that) but she's being very direct and assertive about it compared to everyone else and I'm not sure I can have that.

And I'm started to get pretty hyped up about today. I can't wait to see what the challenge is going to be, I can't wait to see what that whole 'leader' thing is all about and I want this thing to get going. Today should be a good day (famous last words? lol)

Congratulations on the challenge! Amazing team effort! Enjoy your night off from tribal tomorrow.

Please share your thoughts on the challenge with your avid lurkers.

1.       How did the challenge planning talks go down tonight, any surprises there?

2.       How do you feel about your own challenge performance?

3.       As you’ve been getting to know your fellow tribe members, are any working relationships forming?

LET'S GOOOOOO!!!!

That win felt GOOD! The tribe killed it. Damn that was a quick challenge but the energy was just insane.

I can't wait to see who gets voted out tonight. My money is on one of the guys. Erik or JR?

1.       How did the challenge planning talks go down tonight, any surprises there?

The planning went QUICK. Everyone just stepped up and picked the leg they wanted to work. No one hesitated or anything so that was great. It was super easy. I was kinda surprised at how fast everything just devided itself without anyone doubting what they could do. The communication was fantastic, too. The transferers did their part quick and easy but everyone was keeping things going. It's also great that I didn't have a "huge" responsability in the first challenge. Being that I'm already the tribe leader, I didn't really want to be responsible for solving as well so that I don't purposely put the spotlight on myself over and over.

Shan really was the star of that challenge. She completed the puzzle so damn quickly.

I didn't have doubts about anyone going into it but seeing how fast and efficient everyone was was great

The only *huge* red flag for me was Sara. I genuinely feel like she tried to throw the challenge / slow us down. First by "missing a piece", then by having "no idea how to solve it" even though she was literally the one who first pointed out it was the season's banner, then by not knowing where the clouds go (even though they could see the completed picture. Then she goes and post the completed image 10 minutes after Shan? For what? Pride? Come on, if you wanted to show you've completed it, why not just copy-paste Shan's image a minute or 2 after? Why wait 10 minutes?  Everything about Sara is a red flag at this point.

2.       How do you feel about your own challenge performance?

I had the easy role so I won't pretend I had a huge impact on the challenge as a whole. I did want to make sure everyone was comfortable with their leg before I posted the lineup, I reminded people to put the window in full screen to solve the puzzle because I knew someone probably didn't know to do that and I made sure I had a reply post ready to go so that as soon as the image was posted I could submit it and maybe save a few seconds there. So overall, I feel like I did everything my role allowed me to do.

3.       As you’ve been getting to know your fellow tribe members, are any working relationships forming?

The most solid thing happening at the moment is the Evvie/Xander/Abe & me foursome. There's no doubt there as far as I'm concerned. Everything else is very much secondary.

It feels like no one wants to work with Sara and people are starting to question her / get scared of her and I fully agree with those feelings. She feels like the one person who is playing too hard too fast without having much of anything to back up that energy. I need to talk with people more to see how they really feel but to me Sara is QUICKLY moving towards the top of the list of who to vote out.

I feel like I have a lot more thinking to do today so I'll dump some more thoughts later tonight once I've had a few more conversations.

Bye!

Deshawn!

Hope you're enjoying the game so far. Having fun reading your updates. Two things.

1. You stated earlier on in this episode's thread that you were pretty much 100% certain that the first chatroom was made by the other tribe. Can you explain where that near 100% confidence comes from in that read?

2. You said you were a technical recruiter back in the episode 0 confessional. Let's say you're responsible for recruiting all your tribe mates. What's their unique traits that stand out to you, the negative ones that hurt them, and what kind of roles would you be looking to recruit them into? I'm basically asking you to do your job for free for our entertainment. Dance puppet, dance.

Keep up the great work! Looking forward to seeing where you go this season.

Alright alright, so, I didn't see the last reply. Once Episode 2 was up I forgot all about this thread. My bad!

1. You stated earlier on in this episode's thread that you were pretty much 100% certain that the first chatroom was made by the other tribe. Can you explain where that near 100% confidence comes from in that read?

This one is definitely ironic; I originally assumed it was the other tribe because of the timing of the chatroom's creation. I know for a fact I was the last one around on the first night because I remember saying something about how it felt "safe" to leave. And I happened to get back on really early the following morning, the chatroom still wasn't there but appeared at some point early on that day, when there were only Kallpa players around. It was just what "made sense" to me with this context

That being said, I haven't been able to shake off the feeling that that's actually where the idol is and I've been thinking about that a LOT since Sunday. The fact that there still hhasn't been ANY activity at all in that chatroom has really been adding fuel to that fire. There's always the possibility that it was done on purpose just to create paranoia and get people to get into the game but I want to think that there's more to it then just psychological manipulation 😂

2. You said you were a technical recruiter back in the episode 0 confessional. Let's say you're responsible for recruiting all your tribe mates. What's their unique traits that stand out to you, the negative ones that hurt them, and what kind of roles would you be looking to recruit them into? Hahahah wow. let's do it then. I'm sure I can find out who to send a bill to at the end of this 😉
Abraham : Very low maintenance and seems to really approach things with his head rather than his heart. He's very logical but still super social and approachable. I know he works in a very technical role and I definitely understand why. He fits in a position that requires him to be analytical and logical. There's no gray zones in his job, it's black or white. It works or it doesn't. I don't believe he currently is in a management-type of position but I think he is suited for it and he definitely has some good qualifies to transfer into that kind of role.

Danny : Very stealthy, almost like he's invisible. I think he would be perfect around Halloween for ambience, or if you ever inherit an old mansion in the countryside and feel like a ghost haunting the place might add to the mood. 👻

Evvie : Very sociable. She definitely needs to be in a position where she interact with people but not where she is "above them". I don't think she is assertive enough to be in a management-type of role and I believe she doesn't have the confidence to step up in any meaningful way. She is 100% an asset and would be a fantastic employee, maybe as a designer, assuming she is creative) or technical support person.

Heather : Would be extremely hard to manage or to properly integrate to a team. Probably either extremely shy or with very low self confidence, to a point where she is just very closed off and comes off as cold. I would never, ever choose to represent Heather with one of my clients. I don't believe the good is enough to offset the bad here. But if I had to pick a role, I think she would be best suited for a technical writer or an analyst.

Sara : Sara's tough. I believe Sara is very commited, very dedicated to seeing things through and she isn't afraid to put in the work when needed. She's very detail oriented and analytical but I think there is also a very strong desire to perform and to prove herself. I don't believe Sara would accept anything less than a team lead type of position because she wants to have some kind of control. She isn't suited for upper management roles or positions involving overseeing entire projects and multiple teams but I could see her as 'team lead' or maybe Scrum Master. I do think employee retention for anyone working under Sara would be the issue though. I don't think she would be able to keep people happy long term. I would also be very careful in which type of environment I try to place her in. A very corporate / strict and well-structured environment would probably be her best bet.

Shan : Shan is definitely a jack of all trades. I think I have a leg up on that answer because her and I have talked about her job a little already. She's very sociable but also  a hard worker who can actually deliver. She definitely feels like the perfect mix and she checks a LOT of boxes when it comes to recruitement. It makes sense that she's in a position where she has to wear many different hats and sort of be the one person to do everything. If she chose to move into larger environments, Shan would be best suited for a Team Lead / Department Lead on a path to Director level positions if they allowed her to still be hands on once in a while.

Xander : He needs to be in a very creative but very laid back environment. Xander would be the perfect fit for the video game industry. UX/UI designer, 2D/3D artist, level designer or anything similar would be where I see him. If it's not in the videogame industry, I think a start-up would be best for him because he might be a little too "chill" for a corporate environment. I also think that Xander is a sleeper in the sense that he gives off a very laid back vibe but I believe that he is actually a hard worker who takes pride in doing things right and seeing the result of his work.
