Episode 02: Soaring Close to the Sun
Day 5 Continued
Last time I left off, I mentioned Deshawn's plan to get rid of Sara. I'm glad he mentioned the name and then also let Xander know the same thing. I'm going to start letting others know that this is Deshawn's plan, despite Danny still being in the game. It's a good way for everyone to see how hard Deshawn might be playing, and in turn, the threat that Sara brings. I'm starting to wonder if people are seeing me gaming too hard as well. I told myself i wouldn't get sucked in and would take it a little easier...but look how well that's going for me!
I talked to Evvie regarding the Heather plan from Sara. Evvie mentioned that Heather had a plan to talk to the guys and see who potential targets are. Evvie also mentioned I would get a message from Heather, but that never happened.
Alternatively, I received a message from Shan yesterday who decided it was time to solidify our trust and work together. Wow finally I'm getting somewhere with her. I really need to work on this relationship to make sure she's stronger with me than Evvie. I need Shan if I'm ever going to get Evvie out of this game. I tried to push for Deshawn to work with as well and it seems like she hasn't really warmed up to Xander but will given the chance. i think it's better for her to get to know everyone pretty closely if I want people to want her around.
Speaking of Xander, I feel like I've gotten pretty close with him. We basically told each other we were true F2 and that our games hinge on each other. This is basically my make or break relationship. If Xander isn't being true with me, my entire game is done. It has a definitive point where it ends. If the relationship is honest, I can definitely see us in the finals. I need to continue to foster this relationship because it's technically all I have. I don't really believe in the Deshawn relationship or the F3 stoners being able to make it all the way to the end. Evvie just has too many ties that I'm unsure about (Heather, Shan, Deshawn) and she just seems so dangerous. Probably because I like her so much myself.
Toward the end of the day, I spoke to Deshawn and Sara just to touch base. We'll have some more time to talk tomorrow and to figure out if it's just going to be Danny going should we lose. i think Deshawn's Sara vote plan might be too risky and too much game too fast. If we get rid of Sara, I pretty much become the biggest target. I think removing more under the radar people like Heather or even Evvie is the way to go. Selling the Evvie vote to people is going to be super super tough however.
Day 6
And boom, the first person is out of the game. I figured it would be Sherea with how little I see her online. She was never one of our speculated 1987 members so it's really not surprising at all. My goal today is to just be reassured by the relationships I've worked on for the past 5 days and confirm that Danny will be going should we lose.
What type of player (strategic mastermind, social butterfly, under the radar, challenge beast, goat, wild card) are you trying to be at this stage of the game? How do you think your fellow tribe members perceive your current player type? Why?
Unfortunately, right now I think I'm a mix of strategic mastermind and social butterfly. I really shouldn't be playing this hard but it's really difficult not to when everyone else is playing such a quiet game. I'm hoping I'm just perceived as a super social / talkative person and that Sara or Xander are being pegged as the strategic masterminds. It's really hard to not worry about my place in this game when I've broken so many of my own rules already. I think telling Heather about Sara or pushing anything else but Danny will make me seem even more mastermind-like.
Self-reminder to chill the fuck out and stop playing so hard.

You know, at first I was a little disappointed that I was Abraham. A first boot that suffered from his own over-strategizing. Geeze, you guys pegged me too well. I think I'm probably playing too hard just like Abraham was at the beginning. I should probably rewatch his boot just so I see his downfall and understand how I can fall into the same patterns. it might be good to be a first boot representative as no one can really make big comparisons to that player with your own personality. I really hope it helps bring down the threat of what kind of game I'm playing. At the same time, seeing this picture of a grumpy looking old man doesn't seem very reassuring compared to Evvie's smile or Xander's....something. I just see all the other players on my tribe and think 'wow those are some great reps to play as....WHY AM I THIS GUY!?'
Tomorrow is a challenge AND tribal council. Now that you have done one challenge for yourselves, what could be in store for you and your tribe? Think you can handle losing and having tribal council soon after?
Hopefully if the last challenge is an indication of us being challenge beasts, i think our chances are pretty good! Shan really pulled it out for us but she mentioned that the runners in leg 1 really made it easy for her. I think we have a good chance at pulling off another win. It's hard to know what kind of challenges are coming...i should really look at some previous seasons and see what challenges might come.
If we lose, I think Danny is the obvious easy boot. I think that's how it will go so we shouldn't have to worry too much. I've been having a nice heart to heart with Evvie this morning about her brother passing away. It takes me away from the game and really appreciate my relationship with her. I don't think I could ever win sitting next to her at the end but I do really appreciate the friendship that has blossomed. I can really see myself talking to her after the game ends. If all the relationships I've been building are real, then Danny will go home and it'll be a super easy round. But let's just hope we win the challenge again and don't have to deal with tribal.
Speaking of challenges, what is your stance on physical players? Do you value people in the tribe who are good at challenges and want to keep them around even if they're not the best socially with you?
Physical players is kind of a difficult thing to judge in an online game. Sure, Shan killed the puzzle but the challenges change all the time. I guess when it comes to physical people, you consider it as people who are tech savvy and know how to use the forum really well? I'm fine with having these kind of people stick around long term if it means we continue to stay away from tribal. I think my social relationships will get me through the game over having to take out huge threats ASAP. I was waiting for Sara to bring up Shan as a target but that hasn't happened yet.
All in all, it's going to be a very nerve wracking day. Even though Danny is the obvious boot and we should be fine regardless of the challenge outcome, there's nothing like Survivor paranoia. Damn you, Survivor Gods.
